Eileen Elizabeth Jakeman
Of Five Island Lake, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018. Born and raised in Loggieville, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Stella Morrison and Alvin Babkirk. Eileen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was adored by her family and friends. Married for 63 years, her unwavering love, support and dedication to her husband Walter, lead her to share and experience many interests and make lifelong friends and memories. Throughout the years, Eileen enjoyed her many beloved family pets, music, bluegrass festivals, camping trips, square dancing, and boating and swimming on Five Island Lake, as well as adventures on the motorcycle with Walter. Eileen was a licensed Ham Radio operator and enjoyed connecting with people throughout the world. She spent several years accompanying Walter on tour with the Ladies Choice Bluegrass Band and could be seen weekly on the Up-Home Tonight Show making lunch for the cast and crew. Eileen was a faithful member of St Luke’s United Church in Tantallon. In recent years, Eileen took an interest in lawn bowling. She was an original member of the St Luke’s lawn bowling group and always looked forward to socializing with these special friends on Tuesday afternoons. Throughout her life, Eileen took great joy in extending hospitality, good food and a cup of tea to friends and family. Many people were welcomed, and stories were shared while sitting on the Jakeman front verandah, Eileen’s favourite place to chat, laugh and nature watch. For those who were blessed to know her, Eileen will always be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her even temperament, patience and understanding. Her presence will be greatly missed. Eileen was predeceased by her mother, Stella Morrison, father, Alvin Babkirk, siblings, Mary, Jean, Jack and Harold. She is survived by her husband Walter, sons, Kenneth (Nancy Sullivan), Calvin (Susan Simpson) and grandchildren, Leann, Samantha and Matthew, sister in-laws, Heather Bowman and Janet Jones and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Lukes United Church, Upper Tantallon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Luke’s United Church, Upper Tantallon.
