Obituary for John Anton Komatz

John Anton Komatz
At the age of 87, John passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017 in the QEII Health Science Center, Halifax. Born in Leoben Austria, John immigrated to Canada in 1954, where he apprenticed in landscape design and subsequently enjoyed a successful career as an interior decorator. His artistic talents were many; his handcrafted Burrell bowls, rock carvings, and landscaping as well as the beautiful home he built alongside his wife Wenda. He loved to fish, ski and hike in the mountains. John was an incredibly kind and gentle soul who had a kindred connection with children and animals. He was a hard working man who touched so many people's lives with his generosity, thoughtfulness, and his great sense of humour. John is survived by his wife, Wenda Greer, son Gary, his family in Austria; Frieda, Traudi, Hannelori, and Manfred, his family in Canada; Mother-in-law, Doris, Sister-in-laws, Dawn and Ruth (Barry), nieces and nephews; Shain, Clint, Amanda, Jennifer, Danielle, Bill, Kalley, Zack, Jaclyn and Bryan. Predeceased by son Randy, sister Herta, and brother-in-law Dan. The family would like to extend an invitation to a celebration of life gathering in the family home from 7 to 9p.m. Monday, December 18th. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. Online condolences can be made to: www.rawalker.ca.
