Obituary for Anthony Leslie Rhind

Anthony “Tony” Leslie Rhind, 50, of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia passed away peacefully with his family and friends by his side on January 17th at the Victoria General in Halifax. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd at 2pm at the Royal Canadian Legion in Lower Sackville (45 Sackville Cross Road). Tony was preceded in death by his mom, Jeanette Mary Rhind and his dad, Douglas Allan Rhind. He is survived by his daughters, Shelby Lynn LeFort (Travis) and Morgan Leslie Rhind from his marriage to Lynnette. Also his stepchildren, Kyle Joseph Petrie, Lindsay Cheryl Ann Petrie and Spencer David Petrie from his companion Leita. As well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and very close friends. Tony worked/owned the family business (Target Drilling and Sawing) for over 30 years. He took pride in his work and in the company. Always giving more than was expected. This also described his personality too. He trained and mentored his stepson, Kyle to carry on this family legacy. For those who were fortunate enough to share in Tony’s walk through life, we are left to realize there are truly no words to describe his larger than life personality and compassion towards the many lives he touched over the years. He loved to travel and worked hard on his bucket list for many years. Achieving so much in so little time. He loved to go fishing, hunting and being out on his ATV. These activities complimented his love for the outdoors, yet is nothing in comparison to his love of food! The family would like to extend special thanks to Tara Howard, George and Diana Smith, Kevin Malay and Kim Feltmate for their love and support for Tony and the family. Each friend having their own special walk through life with Tony and the family, which was demonstrated through their close friendships in his last days. An extra special thank you to Heather Goodwin, your love, friendship and loyalty to be by his side was amazing to see, it truly warmed the hearts that were breaking knowing he had such a remarkable friend who loved him so dearly. You are truly what angels are made of. In lieu of flowers the family is organizing an ATV Rally in Tony’s memory in the Spring of 2019.
