Obituary for Arnold David Slade

Arnold “Arnie” David Slade
68, Dartmouth, formerly of Timberlea, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2020. Born in Halifax, the second eldest son of Harold and Nina (Francis) Slade. Arnie fondly enjoyed regaling others with his childhood memories journeying through life in Halifax, Canning, and Smith’s Cove, Nova Scotia, Petawawa, Ontario and Soest ,Germany before settling with his loving family in Timberlea from 1968 to 2012 then relocating to Glasgow Hall, Dartmouth, with his loving sister Andrea. Arnie loved the Montreal Canadians, conversations, questions, jokes, singing and a good cup of tea. Arnie was quick with a compliment and a tremendous flirt, dreaming one day of finding the perfect wife. Often seen perched on the deck wearing his sombrero and blowing kisses to all that passed by. Our memories of Arnie’s joyful spirit, peacefulness and happiness, will continue to inspire all that knew him. Arnie had a zest for life and spread contagious joy all around him. A humble and loving son, brother and uncle, Arnie enjoyed life simply and asked little of others.

Arnie knew the love of family in the mutual joy of 8 great nephews - Conner, Jax, Jeff, Patrick, Colin, Kallum, Carson and Owen, and 4 great nieces- Caleigh, Kirsten, Bridget and Carys as well as many cousins from the Slade, Caine and Francis families. Arnie was especially fond of and will be dearly remembered by his aunt Kay, Uncle Doug and cousins Robert and Gordie Francis.
