Obituary for Barry Allan Coolen

Barry Allan Coolen
Born October 31, 1935, in Fox Point, passed away at home in Halifax on August 31, 2018. He was the son of the late Ruby Coolen and step-father Alfred Coolen. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Rosalene (Harnish); sons, Darren (Victoria), East River Point; Todd, Halifax; daughter, Krista (Aki), Tikkakoski; daughter-in-law, Patricia. Halifax; granddaughters, Shannon and Melina; grandsons, Brandel and Matthew; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Shayne and half-brother, Blair. He worked at the Royal Print and Packaging Ltd. for 49 years as a lithographer, retiring in 2000. He was great believer of the pioneering spirit. Though he never completed high school, he immersed himself in history and he loved reading about the Teutonic Tribe and the Knights Templar. As a great armchair warrior, he always had an opinion about politics and current events. He enjoyed baseball, burgers, bluegrass and the roaring of a Harley Davidson going by. He worked very hard to support all of us and he believed in everything we did. He helped us believe in ourselves. He was a great father and husband and will be missed dearly. He will be proudly buried in Fox Point, next to Private Richard Green, a local fallen hero. Special thanks to all the Palliative caregivers, VON and Dr. Humphrey. Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Thursday, September 13th in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
