Obituary for Brenda Joyce Roberts

Brenda Roberts
71 years old, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, passed away at her home on September 11th, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Margaret, nephew John, and loving husband of 42 years, Ron. She is survived by her sister, Margaret “Peggy” (Robert), Red Lake, ON; daughter Laura “Beth” (Jay), Penacook, New Hampshire; son Andrew (Tracy), Calgary, AB; grandsons Peyton, Graydon and Simon; niece Cathy, ON; nephew Jamie, BC; uncle Murray (Norma), NB; sister-in-law Sheila, BC, and many wonderful cousins, most of whom live in New Brunswick.

In stories of her early years, she fondly remembered large family gatherings that included numerous aunts, uncles and cousins on a family farm. For many years, Brenda was a dedicated, hard-working nurse in several practice areas, mainly geriatrics and mental health. Whenever she could, she would play piano and sing for patients, bringing music and joy into their lives. Brenda went on to share her musical talents by playing organ for a the Anglican churches of, including St. Andrew’s, Indian Harbour, (where she also served as Co-Warden for a time); St. James, West Dover; St. Peter’s, Hackett’s Cove, and St. John’s in Peggy’s Cove. After retiring from nursing, Brenda and Ron created Copperleaf Antiques, where she enjoyed sourcing, refinishing and selling antiques, and making friends in the industry. Brenda was a brilliant cook, and she enjoyed feeding friends and family marvelous home-cooked meals, or gathering with them for coffee, her tasty baked goods, laughter and discussion.
