Obituary for Cheryl Juanita Gertridge

Cheryl Juanita (Garrison) Gertridge

of Bedford, Passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. She was born October 16, 1951 in Boutiliers Point, NS. Predeceased by her parents, Glen and Juanita (Snair), sisters Corrine Armitage, and Linda Andrews. Survived by her husband of 48 years, John; daughter, Susan (Jeff Healy); the absolute joys of her life, her treasured grandchildren, Liam, Olivia, Nestor and Charlotte, who provided Cheryl with so much love and joy; sister, Lorelea Garrison, Lethbridge; brother, Terry (Diane) Garrison, Campbell river, B.C.

In the past, Cheryl was a competitive figure skater and coach. She volunteered her time on behalf of many charities and organizations, including Northwood Center, Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, and Meals on Wheels, just to name a few.

Most of Cheryl’s working career was devoted to the banking sector, 19 years of which were with the Royal Bank.
Cheryl loved the outdoors, particularly camping, and she so looked forward to being at the cottage at Butler Lake in East Dalhousie.

Cheryl touched many hearts and more specifically, stomachs, as she was always baking for people, quite often, total strangers. Her domain was the kitchen. In recent years she bestowed much of her love and energy upon her grandchildren, whom she just could not get enough of. She had a special bond with her beloved daughter, Susan, which was precious to them both. Cheryl was a very giving and generous person with a great sense of humour. Laughter and joy always seemed to follow her.

A family service will be held at a later date in Brookside Cemetery.
Donations can be made to QEII Health Sciences Center, V.G. Site, ICU or a charity of choice.
