Obituary for Constance Marjorie "Connie" Hudson

Constance (Connie) Marjorie Hudson
The family of Connie Hudson announce her passing on November 11, 2019. Connie was born in Digby to the late Percy and Mildred Atwell on July 18, 1938, and grew up in Black River, Kings County, the oldest of four girls. She was predeceased by husband, John Lewis Hudson, and sisters Jackie Clifford and Judi Munro. Connie is survived by daughters Heather (Brian) Travis, Shelley Hudson, and son Garth Hudson, cherished grandsons Mitchell Travis, Blake Travis and Colten Hudson, sister Dianne Allen and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Connie’s caring nature lead her to teaching for a year before she was old enough to attend nursing school. She graduated from the VG School of Nursing, Class of ’60B. She worked as a nurse in Psychiatry and research, before starting work at her alma mater, the VG School of Nursing and Allied Health Schools, first as an instructor, and then became Registrar and Counsellor, where she mentored a generation of students. She returned to school part-time in the late ‘70’s while raising her family and working full-time. She graduated with her BSW from the Dalhousie School of Social Work in 1984. When the Nursing School closed in 1995, Connie worked as a Social Worker in Neuro-Surgery, where she touched many lives.
She was a talented artist, her fantastic paintings were enjoyed and coveted by family and friends. She was woman of faith, serving the church on the Pastoral Care Committee and in the choir for many years. Music was a huge part of her life, singing as a girl with her mother and sisters, and later with John. Connie’s legacy to those that knew her is her kindness, her hospitality, her compassion and understanding, surpassed only by the love she had for her family, especially her grandsons.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggys Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 15, at 2 p.m., in St. Andrews Anglican Church, St. Margaret's Bay Rd, Timberlea. Family internment in Country Harbour at a later date. Family flowers only please.
