Obituary for David Phillip Scarfe

David Phillip Scarfe

85, Halifax passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2022 in Halifax. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late Arthur and Marion (Morash) Scarfe.

Dave worked several years in road construction. His career took him to Manager of Atlantic Colas and Vice President of Road Savers Canada.

Dave was a long time member of the Armdale Yacht club and enjoyed racing snipes. He and his brother Don won the Dominion Cup and went on to race in Argentina to represent Canada. Another passion of his was horse back riding - he loved to trail ride with his favourite horse Lucky. When he was not sailing or riding, he was in the woods hunting or fishing.

Dave’s proudest accomplishments were his family. He loved bringing them together with friends at the farm where he would shared many funny stories over the years. Leaving an impact with his wit and humour, his family and friends would confirm that many memories were made and great times were had on Fallsbrook Lane.
Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Mary Elizabeth (Flemming); sons Tim (Terri Lee), Ferguson’s Cove; Chris, Spryfield; daughter, Patty (Lewis) Sleep, Bridgewater; grandchildren, Lindsay (Cory)Boutilier; Jordan, Taylor, and Ryan; Great grandchild, Beau Boutilier; Sister Connie, Halifax.
Predeceased by his brothers Donal, Michael, Thomas, and Ernie

A celebration of Dave's life, open to friends and family, will be held on 2-4 pm Saturday, November 26 at the Armdale Yacht Club, 75 Burgee Run, Halifax, NS.

A private graveside burial will take place at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Ketch Harbour at a later date.

The family would like to Thank the staff of Flemming Way at the Parkstone Long Term Care Facility for taking such great care of Dave.
