Douglas Allen (Doug) Rhind
November 11, 1947 – July 15th, 2018
Doug passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018 at the age of 70 in the QEII Hospital with family by his side. Born in Halifax, he grew up in Rockingham where he made many life time friends. He moved to Waverly for a few years then settled in Hammonds Plains. Doug is survived by his son Tony and granddaughters, Shelby (fiancé Travis Le Fort) and Morgan,. Also survived by sisters, Ellen, Rockingham; Leona (Bruce) Hyland, Sackville; Heather (Sid) Wilkinson, Dartmouth; Valerie (Gerry) Pettipas, Mt Albert Ontario; Brother Kenneth (Jocelyn), Grand Lake. Brother-n-law Keith Hunter, Bedford; Brother-in-Law Pat (Joan) MacInnis, Kelowna BC; and Frank (Priscilla) Sackville, and three step grandchildren Spencer, Kyle and Lindsay and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Doug was predeceased by his wife Jeanette (MacInnis) in Dec 2015 after 45 yrs of marriage, his faithful dog Bubba who never left his side and passed away just after Doug’s last trip to the Hospital. His parents Neil and Ruth (Ogilvie) Rhind; his Brothers David and Kelvin; his sisters Caroline and Shirley Hunter. Doug started working with his father at a very young age as a carpenter, he then went on to being a boiler maker having jobs in many places in Canada before starting his own business Target Drilling and Sawing over 40 years ago. Doug and Janet were avid campers and huge fans of NASCAR, and Local Pro Stock races, travelling to many races in the Maritimes and in the states. They were big country music fans and attended many Jamborees. Doug enjoyed his family and friends and was always there to give support when needed. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 23, 2018 @ 2 pm in the Sackville Legion – Sackville Cross Rd, Lower Sackville. Rev James Houghn officiating.
