Obituary for Gary Calvin Wilson

Gary Calvin WIlson

We are saddened to announce the passing of our father on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at his home in Black Point. Dad was survived by his mother Inga Wilson of Whitehills Long Term Care Centre; his son Darren (Jill); daughter, Dawn (Brad); grandchildren, Jenna (Jake); Jayden and Hayley; brother, Wade (Debbie); sister-in-law Diane and will be missed by his beloved cat Ace. Dad was predeceased by his father Carl, his older brother, Wayne, and Pat, the mother of his children. Dad grew up in Black Point & everyone knew the Wilson's, namely Gary. He was the socialite of the family. We believe he knew everyone in every house from Ingramport to Queensland & beyond. Living next to Snairs bakery made it easy for Dad to get a part time job through his high school years. After finishing school, he followed his father & Wayne to work at the CNR, first at the CN hotel & then the railroad. Opportunity followed shortly after at the hard board plant in East River. There he planted his roots working over 35 years & happily retiring as a millwright. Dad was very skilled with most any tool in his hands & loved restoring older automobiles. He loved golf and playing hockey, his favorite team being the Penguins, he also enjoyed four- wheeling, hunting, fishing & of course spending time with family & friends over a good cup of coffee. After Dad retired, he traveled to the Caribbean beaches. He was truly a sun worshipper & loved the heat. Dad will be sorely missed by so many & will leave a giant void in the community of Black Point. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In Memory of Dad please donate to the Heart & stroke foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
