Gladys Amelia Richardson
79, of Northwest Cove, We the heartbroken family of Gladys Amelia (Coolen) Richardson, age 79, want to announce her passing on Sunday May 19th at home with her loving niece and caregiver Barbara; sister, Lydia and niece, Debbie by her side. Gladys is the daughter of the late James A and Dorothy Coolen of Northwest Cove. In earlier years Gladys worked at the original “Thriftway” store in Hubbards. She worked several positions cleaning homes for various people of whom she adored.Her biggest love of life was her love for family and friends of which she had so many. You can be sure you would always be greeted by a gentle hug and a kiss and told you were loved. Over the years at various variety shows, churches or in her home, accompanied by her husband, you would hear her voice singing beautifully while playing several instruments – She was so talented. Gladys had a love for everyone like no other. She was the happiest when making others happy be that by her music/singing, her many served home-cooked meals or just spending time with you. Every Tuesday she looked so forward to spending time with her bowling family in Halifax of which she did for years. Gladys is survived by her loving sister, Lydia (William Miller) and brother, James S. both of Northwest Cove; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas Richardson; sister, Cora Faye; nephew, Charles William Miller. The family will receive visitors 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21st in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 22nd in the Birchy Head Baptist Church, Birch Head. Pastor John Purdy officiating. Thank you to Dr. Gowan and the Palliative Care Team, the nurses and doctors and the South Shore Regional Hospital, 3rd Floor. The Red Cross and the VON’s for all they had done. A special thank you to everyone who showed their love, kindness and support during this most sad difficult time. As Gladys would say “We Love You All”. Family flowers only.
