Gloria Marie (Gates) Smith
daughter, granddaughter, wife, mother, grandmother, big sister (age 68) passed away suddenly on Saturday March 16th at Parkstone Enhanced Care. She is survived by her husband Larry, sons Michael (Janine) North Carolina, Peter (Leah) Halifax, and daughter Nadine Sanford (Craig) Falmouth, sisters Glenda Gates Tantallon, Ramona Richard (Joseph) West Dover and Cindy Fraser (Kenny) Fall River, 7 grandchildren, numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Gloria married young and raised our children with unmeasurable love and guidance. She was my best friend. Gloria enjoyed nothing better than being around family and was always ready for a laugh or to lend a helping hand. Her potato salad was legendary. In the early years she enjoyed plucking dandelions, Bingo and knitting caps for the IWK babies. Later she joined the Tim's crowd and became a regular 7 days a week. Late in life Gloria was diagnosed with dementia and spend her last months in Parkstone Enhanced Care. Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday March 22, 2019 in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
