It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Paul MacCormack, 65, of Tantallon announce his sudden passing on December 19, 2022 in Upper Tantallon. Born in Halifax on November 14, 1957. Gordon is survived by his brothers Michael (Carol) and James of Tantallon, Robert (Donna) of Mississauga, Ontario as well as his sisters Barbara (Glen) Ethridge of Lewis Lake, Ena (Andrew) Keast of Bedford, Mille of Halifax and sister-in-law Jessie MacCormack of Halifax. He is also survived by his Aunt Stella MacCormack of Cleveland, Cape Breton, his father’s birthplace, and many cousins in Cape Breton. He was predeceased by his parents Violet (Boutilier) and Francis MacCormack of Tantallon where he lived most of his life. He was also predeceased by his brothers George, Gary (Jessie) and Norman (Mary) and by sister Rose Mary (Edgar) Fredericksen. Gordon has many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews in Halifax, Toronto, Banff, Alaska, Oregon, Texas and Colorado. After graduating high school, Gordon completed training to become a machinist and worked for many years for CN Rail at their roundhouse in Fairview. When CN downsized, he enrolled in a small engine repair course at Lunenburg Community College, Bridgewater and returned to Tantallon after graduation where he worked at various jobs until his retirement in 2019.
Gordon was very active in his community where he was adored by his many friends who will always remember his kindness, smile and ready wit. Gordon enjoyed his weekly crib games with his buddies, darts, fishing, and watching his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Blue Jays and Las Vegas Raiders.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Ronald A Walker Funeral Homes, 13549 Peggys Cove Road, Upper Tantallon on Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2-4pm.
