Obituary for Hilda Iona Duncan

Hilda Iona (Dauphinee) Duncan

of Hubbards passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023, at the age of 99 in the South Shore Regional Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Hilda was the daughter of the late Elbe and Lillian Dauphinee. She is survived by son, Paul Duncan; daughters, Judy (Peter McCreath); Heidi-Ann (David Platt); Jacqueline (Bill Brydges); Jane Duncan; grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher, Laura, Taylor, Jenna, and Olivia; great grandchildren, Hunter and Katherine. Pre-deceased by her husband, Jack; son, John; sister, Marjorie, half-brothers, Maurice and Ebben; cousin, Helen Johnson.

Hilda attended Maritime Business College in Halifax, worked at the Merchant Marine Training School in Hubbards throughout World War II, she married, raised her children, and had a brief career in real estate following the death of her husband. While she travelled to a number of places, her home and her heart was always in the village of Hubbards, Nova Scotia.

Hilda’s family and many friends knew her as a person of strong will, loyalty and commitment to all with whom she came in contact. She was a life-long member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Hubbards, and strong supporter of the Conservative Party.

No flowers by request. Donations in Hilda’s memory can be made to St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Hubbards, Hubbards and Area Food Bank, or charity of your choice with much appreciation.

The family would like to thank the team of paramedics and medical staff in emergency and on the third floor at the South Shore Regional Hospital.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be published at a later date.
