Obituary for John Raphael Cole Porter

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Raphael (Rafe) Cole Porter. Rafe died peacefully in his home on April 5th, due to heart complications. He was 62.

Rafe was a vibrant and talented man, and spent his life contributing to his beloved community of Hubbards. Throughout his life he worked as a fisherman, logger, carpenter, and chef; he volunteered as a baseball coach, cub scout leader, and Lions' Club member; he built a reputation as a talented musician and performed all over the South Shore; he ran a bagel business at the Hubbards Barn Market; he built multiple houses in Fox Point, carved a series of sculptures at the Shore Club, and hosted a radio show with Covefm. He was very well-known throughout the entire St. Margaret's Bay area, and his energy and passion were unforgettable.

His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of many, including his sister Catherine and brother Gabe; his four children Nathaniel, Barrett, Dylan, and Emerson; his eight grandchildren; his nephews Ivan, Nick, and Garridan, his beloved pup Salty Dog, and his chosen family of very close friends.

Rafe was truly one-of-a-kind. His laughter filled every room, and his magnetic personality will be fiercely missed.

A celebration of his life will be open to the whole community at the Shore Club the evening of Friday, May 5th, Doors open at 6 pm. All who knew him are welcome to join the family to commemorate Rafe's vibrant life in an evening of food, drink, and music. https://fb.me/e/ZKWyw3Cx
