Age 92, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2018 at Northwood Ivany Place, Bedford. Born July 15, 1926 at Fox Point, NS she was the youngest child of the late Frederick and Jennie (Longard) Coolen. Marie retired in 1985 after a 36 year career in the Halifax office of the H.J. Heinz Co. of Canada Ltd. She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a caring Christian lady who always related to others with loving kindness and grace. A talented musician, she served as a church organist for over 50 years. She was also an accomplished needle woman, creating exquisite needlepoint and other beautiful objects. Marie is survived by her brother, Floyd Coolen, Bedford; niece, Myrna (Don) McAnally, Sorrento, B.C. and special family caregivers : nephew, Reid (Margaret) Coolen, Fox Point; niece, Nancy (Donnie R.) Harnish, Mill Cove; nephew, Harry Soper, Dartmouth. She will be fondly remembered by several generations of relatives among the extended Coolen and Soper families in Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Donald; brother, Sanford and sister, Violet. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, Hubbards. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Private family committal will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
