Obituary for Marion Elizabeth Coolen

Marion Elizabeth Coolen
90, of Simms Settlement, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Upper Tantallon she was the daughter of the late Jane (Boutilier) Chandler. Survived by her brother, Edgel (Sylvia) Chandler, Tantallon; sister, Meta (Fernand) Frenette, Porters Lake; grandchildren, Jim (Alana Lojek), Hubbards; Gary, Bedford; Rob, Yellowknife; Don, Edmonton; great grandchildren, Mikayla, Maya, Kianna-Leigh. Predeceased by her husband , Harry; son, Gary; daughter, Sherry; brothers, Wesley Chandler, Clyde Chandler, Herbert Chandler; sisters, Uzena Ashe, Beatrice Heuther, Muriel Rondeau, Elma Desbarres, Anna Doubleday. The family will receive visitors, 4-7 p.m. Friday November 23 in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Funeral Service 11 am Saturday November 24 in St. Lukes Anglican Church, Hubbards. Burial to follow in St. James Anglican Church Cemetery, Fox Point. Reception to follow in Hubbards Area Lions Club, Fox Point. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Hubbards Area Lions Club or the Local Food Bank. We were so sorry to hear that Marion has passed and wish to convey our sincerest sympathies to her Family at this sad time. Marian was a lovely lady who was always so kind to everyone, especially all the kids in the neighborhood as we were growing up. Her Mother, Mrs. Jane (Granny) Chandler was like our own Grandmother and the entire Chandler Family always encouraged and supported us throughout our teen years. We will always remember Marian and hope her family find comfort in knowing how much she meant to us.

As a young girl growing up next to Granny Chandler. Marion’s Mom. I had the wonderful pleasure of knowing this remarkable lady and knowing her wonderful children as well ! Gary and Sherry, Marion always had a warm smile and gentle hug. I often though she could be a movie star as she always dressed her best , She always made you feel like you were family Through out the years we never got to see each other but looking at her sweet photo she still was full of grace , Deepest Sympathy to her family and friends , She is with her beloved family in heaven May she Rest In Peace , 🙏

Condolences to all the family. Aunt Marion was a kind and loving person. Even though we lived miles apart, we felt a close caring connection. She kept our family informed on family activities in Nova Scotia for many years with her beautiful letters. We shared many a tear and many a laugh. We feel deeply blessed for our trip to Nova Scotia this summer and the opportunity to connect with family. Aunt Marion your faithful journey has led to a new beginning.
