Marlene Diane Ryer

It's with heavy hearts, we announce our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marlene Diane Ryer, has passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on February 1st, 2023.

Born June 13, 1951 in Sambro, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Sylvia Marie (Gilkie) and the late Earle Douglas Schnare. She is survived by her husband of 52 years Roger Ryer; mother, Sylvia Schnare; daughter, Kimberley (Timothy) Ryer; son, Kevin (Samantha) Ryer; grandchildren, Brody, Jordan and Ethan; sister, Sharon (David) Garrison; brothers, Vance (Yvonne) Schnare; Terry (Heather) Schnare, Chris Schnare, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Earle Schnare; brother, Leonard (Jane) Gilkie, and step-father Clarence Wentzell.

She loved spending time with her friends, Beverly Richardson, Christine Hubley and the late Diane Cleveland. Marlene enjoyed her Wednesday night cribbage league, taking home many trophies and prizes over the years. She took so much pride in creating and decorating the prize envelopes for the yearly cribbage banquet. Marlene had a love for houseplants, reading and sci-fi. She has also filled the hearts and bellies of many over the years with her love of cooking and baking.

A heartfelt thanks to Dean and Rosalie Ryer, and to all of those who have helped, and continue to help us through this difficult time.
