Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Foote, 77, of Timberlea, Nova Scotia passed away on February 21st in Halifax. Beth had an accomplished career as a teacher, and as a school principal. Early in her career, she obtained her M.Ed and deeply loved teaching. She spent many years volunteering with the Girl Guides and was an active member of Saint Andrew’s Church. Beth was a vibrant woman that enjoyed life to the fullest. After retirement, Beth traveled the world with her husband, Bob, something she sincerely loved. She was an avid swimmer and loved spending time at the beach with her dear friends. She also enjoyed music and singing and loved the theatre. Beth’s home was a hub for family and friends – her spirit of generosity and hospitable nature meant that everyone always felt welcome. She is survived by her daughter, Kim (Kevin), son, Duncan (Jenny) and her adored grandchildren, Lucy, Simon and Colin, her siblings Barry, Keith, Brian, and Beverley, sisters-in-laws Linda and Judi, and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by husband Robert, and sister, Judy. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 27 in Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church (2552 St Margarets Bay Rd, Timberlea). Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church, Timberlea, or the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. A special thanks to the staff at Drummond Hall for their kindness and care.

My Aunt Beth was a strong and formidable woman. She was loud, feisty and provided her opinion without hesitation; qualities that impressed me as a child and admired as an adult. She was wonderful.

On behalf of my parents, Rod and Glenda Redden, we'd like to express our heartfelt condolences on Beth's passing.
Beth and her whole family has had a hard time dealing with the Alzheimer's, but I'm sure she is finally at peace.

I was deeply sorry to read of the passing of Beth Foote. She attended Normal College in Truro the same year my friend and I did. We all boarded at the same house on Laurie Street. She was Beth Fraser, I was Connie Allen and my friend was Kaye Crowell. We were graduates of Hants West Rural High School in Brooklyn, Hants Co. We attended Normal College in the year 1960-61. Kaye and I enjoyed rooming with Beth, and even just lately, we talked of reconnecting with her and chatting about our fun year in Truro. So nice to read how successful she was in her teaching career and how she enjoyed other interests and activities. You, the beautiful family her and Bob raised, and the grandchildren, must have brought her much comfort and joy. My friend Kaye Logie, who lives in Cambridge, Kings Co., and myself who lives in Newport Corner, Hants Co., will never forget Beth and the laughter she brought to us, on many nights of studying. We send our condolences to you and all the family. May your fondest memories help you through your grief. Our thoughts are with you, Love, Connie Rogers
