Obituary for Marshall Longard

Melvin Marshall Longard, eldest son of the late Melvin & Bessie Longard, passed away April 29, 2019 at Ivany Place Nursing Home, Bedford, NS. Born on July 18, 1931, he was the oldest and longest living resident of Timberlea, NS, having lived there his entire life. Marshall was the Owner/Operator of Longards Trucking & worked for Municipal Contracting for 50 years. He was a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Marshall loved his family, especially his wife of nearly 60 years (May 17, 1959), Verena (Harnish). He is survived by Verena; his daughters Heather Longard, Fall River & Geri (Chuck) Barrington, Bedford; granddaughters Lauren & Erin Barrington, Bedford; brother, Humphrey Longard, Timberlea; sisters, Viola Ganz, Vancouver; Mabel Bronstein, Vancouver; Glenna Doubleday, Timberlea. Marshall was a kind & gentle soul, a friend to many, loved by all who met him and will be greatly missed. He was a lover of old cars and old roads. Special thanks to the wonderful caregivers at Ivany Place, Bedford who provided dad loving care. Visitation will take place in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Rd., Upper Tantallon, 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm May 3rd, with Funeral Services held at the Tantallon Seventh Day Adventist Church, 12494 Peggy’s Cove Rd, May 4th at 2 pm with Pastor David Crook officiating.
