Obituary for Nellie Della Westhaver

Westhaver, Nellie Dell
99, of Head of St. Margaret’s Bay passed away on Tuesday April 30, 2019. Born in Halifax she was the daughter of the late Welsford and Pearl Hartlen. She was a member of the St. Margaret’s Bay Baptist Church for 82 years. A lifetime member of the PC Woman’s Assoc., an avid gardener, wonderful cook and a fine homemaker who enjoyed entertaining and never left her home without making a fashion statement. After working as a receptionist at NuWay Dry Cleaner’s in Halifax she moved home to care for her mother for a number of years. In 1967 she married Glendon Westhaver, her husband for 25 years. He was an old friend from Jeddore and the father of five children, three of which joined her in their new home on Masons Point. In later years she enjoyed bingo with friends and spent many hours working on the Lexicon puzzles. At the age of 92 she appeared in the Hubbards Dinner Theatre, and later the National Film Board Documentary “Mabel” beside her dear friend for many years, Mabel Robinson. Truly a highlight of her life.
