Obituary for Omer Armand Viau

Omer Armand Viau,

93, of Masons Point passed away on January 21st, 2023 after being diagnosed with Mesothelioma late last year. Omer was predeceased by his wife Lillian and is survived by his three sons Paul, Glen, and Marc, daughters in law Cathy, Carol, and Michelle, and his seven grandchildren Ryan, Alexis, Cleo, Jaden, Maya, Annabelle, and Owen.
Omer was born on March 3rd, 1929, in Nelson BC and graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1954 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was transferred to the Maritimes while working for General Electric where he met his wife Lillian in Saint John New Brunswick. Omer and Lillian lived on Mason’s Point in St. Margarets Bay from 1964 onwards.

Omer will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed boating, swimming at the wharf, fishing in St. Margarets Bay, camping, spoiling dogs, playing cards with friends and family, barbequing burgers or cooking lobsters, listening to music, and gardening. He had an uncanny natural ability with all things mechanical and electrical and throughout his career and private life enjoyed a reputation as a man who could build or fix anything. A celebration of life for Omer will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the palliative care team at Cobequid Community Health Centre and the nurses with VON Home and Community Care for their help and support.
