Obituary for Robert Allen Boutilier

Robert Allen Boutilier

63, of Seabright, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 in the QEII Health Sciences Center, Halifax. Born in Lunenburg he was the son of Bertha Eugene (Hamm) Boutilier, Seabright and the late Eugene Frederick Boutilier Sr.

When dad started the first official garbage collection on the Peggy’s Cove Road, Robert was right there to help, stating they were collecting the garbage to help keep the Peggy’s Cove Road beautiful & clean. He also helped the family in making well crocks for many homes in the neighbourhood. Many of these are still there today. Robert later worked for the family business E.F.Boutilier Lube Oil Pumping. Pumping lube oil aboard Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Ships when docked in Halifax & Dartmouth & occasionally taking a trip to Cape Breton N.S & Bathurst N.B. and later went to work at Text Park in Halifax for several years. In his spare time, he liked to tinker around with anything from lawn mowers to trucks.

Robert is survived by his children, Sabrina, Halifax; Ellen, Dartmouth; Brother, Eugene Jr. (Debbie Morash), Middle Village; sisters, Lily (Murray) Brannen, East Chezzetcook; Katina (Terry Murphy) Richardson, Glen Haven; nephews, John & Curtis Richardson; nieces, Alacia & Falen.

Robert was predeceased by his father Eugene Boutilier Sr.; brother, Kevin Boutilier; niece, Donna Lemmon.

Special thanks go to Doctors & Nurses on 5A at the Victoria General Hospital for listening to every episode of Star Trek many times over, as well as, their level of care, their compassion and kindness through Robert’s final journey.

The family will receive visitors 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, March 21st and funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday March 23rd both in the Ronald A. Walker Funeral Home, 13549 Peggy’s Cove Road, Upper Tantallon. Burial to follow in St. Peters Anglican Church Cemetery, Hacketts Cove.
