Obituary for Roger Lennon Kaizer

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Roger Kaizer, age 56. Roger passed away October 21, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Fishermans’ Memorial Hospital, he was the son of (late) Oddvar Kaizer and Heather (Eisner), Chester. Roger will be remembered for many things, but what he treasured most was the family he created with Joan, his wife of 32 years. He will be greatly missed by his children, Emily (Adam) and Mitchell (Krista) and by his three grandsons: Rylan, Alex, and Owen, who all fondly called him Grumpy. Roger is also survived by his sister Cindy (Jake), Oakville, ON, as well as many nieces and nephews. Roger worked as a mechanic, first with the Canadian Tire Corporation, and more recently with the Department of Transportation. Roger was also a dedicated volunteer fire fighter with the Hubbards Volunteer Fire Department. He retired in the Summer of 2017 to do what he loved best … travelling, touring the Province in his Miata with best buddies Judy and Peter, and most important to him, spending time with his family. Roger lived his life in a loving yet quiet way, without great fanfare, never quite realizing what a lasting impact he made on everyone lucky enough to have been loved by him. We would like to thank Dr. Rayson and his team for the excellent care Roger received at the Nova Scotia Cancer Clinic. Also a special thank you to Dr. J. Jarvis for her support and care every step of the way. Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 26, at 11:00 am in St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Hubbards. A reception will follow at the Hubbards Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to S.H.A.I.D. Animal Shelter.
