Sharon (Sharry) Nicolle
August 11, 1948 - April 14, 2022
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Sharry Nicolle.
Sharry died peacefully with family by her side, telling her how much they loved her.
Born in Sackville N.B., Sharry grew up in Amherst, Nova Scotia. She often spoke of her carefree childhood on Westminster Avenue and her many life-long friends. It was in these early years, she met and fell in love with her partner of 59 years, Jim.
Sharry was a sweet, wise and kind woman, who had an unending compassion for others and an unstoppable inner strength that defied every challenge life threw at her.
Sharry had a special gift of bringing calm and beauty to any situation or environment. She loved a quiet evening on the deck at her cottage with her dog at her feet, a good book, a chilled glass of wine, and a soft breeze coming in off the Northumberland Straight. It was the simple things in life that gave her the most pleasure, sitting on the beach thinking, a cozy evening fire or her daily walk. She liked to keep busy and was at her happiest working in the yard.
Sharry loved children and dogs, and they loved her. She was a successful business person and owner of Oakglen Kennels, in Five Island Lake, for many years.
It would be Sharry’s passion for children that would truly define her life’s purpose.
Sharry worked with the Halifax County School Board for 44 years, first as a school bus driver and later as an Educational Program Assistant at Tantallon Elementary School. In this role, she lovingly assisted children with special needs. Sharry touched the lives of thousands of children in the St. Margret’s Bay area. Ducky was devoted to her grandchildren and they loved her with all their hearts.
She leaves her loving husband, James Nicolle, children Anna (Kevin) and Colin (Anne Marie), Che (puppy), grandchildren James, Cameron and Lindsay, and great grandchildren, Léa and Charlie.
Sharry was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Florence Noiles of Amherst, Nova Scotia.
